Barns of Burlington VT
NYC 10th ave on 05/06/06 @ 12:48:24 PM
Debbie and I went and saw my sister Mary graduate with a 3.65 this morning. On the way back to the hotel we got a little lost and ran past this little barn/silo right outside of Burlington. < Previous Day<<>>

blessing and a curse
Stubbs in Austin TX on 04/30/06 @ 12:0:42 AM
We were awoken suddenly by someone trying to kick down the door. Actually it's the maid who is obviously ignoring the “Do Not Disturb” sign we hung last night. Good thing she is kept from entering by the safety latch. I pull the pillow from my head and search the blackness for the neon red numbers. 10:10 am is now burnt into my retina and part of everything I look at. I Stagger my haggard body to the window to validate the findings. The sun bursts thru, blinding me and catching ever dark inch of the room on fire.
As I stand in the wake of the light, I try to scrape the morning dew from my eyes while scratching the itchy parts of my body. As I look into the light I can start to make out a large brown submarine floating in the black sea outside my window. I continue to rub and blink rapidly to focus on the surreal landscape before me.
So, it's not a large brown sub but a long brown unmarked tour bus in the hotel parking lot. How do I know that it's a tour bus? Because everyone entering through its open doors are too old to be on a high school trip, too hung over looking and broke to be on a guided bus tour to Las Vegas. One of the guys stops in the doorway of the bus a looks up at me with a big goofy grin and does a little head nod to acknowledge me that makes his afro bounce before it snaps back into place. I nod back and realize that I’m standing in this huge picture window in my day old underwear. I step back from the window, turn and crawl back into bed thinking that dude sure looked a lot like Patterson Hood from the Drive by Truckers as I nod off to sleep with the lyrics of “18 Wheels of love” echoing in my ears.
To conclude, when we did make it out of the hotel we found out that they DBT were in town recording a DVD and were going to be playing a live show at Stubbs. Thank god I look a lot different in clothes because I know my wife would have been devastated if Patterson acknowledged me during the show…

LES, NYC on 04/12/06 @ 11:42:31 PM
I think that I’ve found a way to ease my troubled mind. I fill a glass, then drink it down. Then I fill it one more time. Well, the wine it flows and the pain goes but the spell never lasts. Desperate ain't lonely so I try not to drink because if I sit and think I know I’ll just go crazy again. Desperate ain't lonely and I know I’ve been had but my pockets are empty and I'm lonesome and I’m sad. The letter I wrote took words from my throat. I decided to save it to lay on a roadside, but there it sat in the rain and the ink all bleed. < Previous Day<<>>

Canal and Broadway, NYC on 03/25/06 @ 9:38:17 PM
Richard Butler, vocalist and chief songwriter for '80s mainstays the Psychedelic Furs plays the Canal Room in support of his debut solo album titled "Richard Butler.” Scheduled to be released on April 18th it is his first venture into the studio since Love Spit Love's "Trysome Eatone" in 1997. I was just happy to hear an acoustic set of "Love My Way," "Heaven" and "The Ghost in You" . < Previous Day<<>>

Oh that noise... Vaz!
North Six Brooklyn, NYC on 02/24/06 @ 11:55:27 PM
Obviously if you come to this site you have figured out that I have a strong affinity for the noise rock sounds of the early '90's. An all-time favorite was the Minneapolis trio Hammerhead from the legendary Amphetamine Reptile label. They fell to a nasty demise around 1997 however tonight I found two of the members playing North Six in Brooklyn under the name Vaz. Guitarist/bassist Apollo Liftoff and monstrous drummer Dionysius Powerdown has recently added a third member, Adam Mark, on guitar. It’s good to see that the noise hasn’t left the ingredients of the new day. Above you can see Apollo making a little noise of his own…< Previous Day<<>>

Best Left Unsaid
R&R Meatpacking Dist on 14th between 10th and 11th, NYC 1/20/06 @ 11:04:03 PM
I met this band (Best Left Unsaid from Mississippi) Sept 11th 2003. We partied all night at a local bar, they crashed at my place and in the morning while we were medicating our hangovers we learned that Johnny Cash and passed away early that morning. Tonight they are back in town playing some meat packing club called R&R and on a normal night it's a Gay Fetish club but tonight it's all about the Rock n Roll. See my previous post from this club here!
Best Left Unsaid is something I should take to heart because I seem to say whatever is bouncing around in my head. It's almost as though every thought is caught in a fan and I'm not sane until I get it out. Mindless self indulgence or just an OCD but than again that is why I started this site, just to let it all out...< Previous Day<<>>

Which are you?
Hoboken, NJ on 1/14/06 @ 9:55:12 PM
Most people are either an Elvis fan or a Beatles fan. In the same regard, people are either a dart player or a pool player. I'm an Elvis fan that likes to throw a few darts while kicking back a few drinks. You can't be both, so which are you?< Previous Day<<>>
